The story begins in 1958 when Arnie and Doris Hagen built Hagen’s Square Dance Barn also known as Hagen’s Barn or just “The Barn”. Even though it has been called the Barn it has never been a barn. The Hagens built the facility for dancing.
In 1986 Dave Serfling started teaching dance classes and playing music for his students to practice to as well as their family events.
In 1991 Dave was hired to DJ at Ted Moore’s 50th birthday party at Hagen’s Barn. Arnie offered to rent the hall, to Dave, for his classes and dances. It didn’t work at the time but in a few years Dave was renting the hall two Friday nights a month for dances and every Tuesday night for Dance Lessons.
In 1998, Dave sold his house, packed up his wife and two kids, bought the Barn and built his house next door. Dave plays the music for the Friday Night Dances and everyone has a great time dancing. The Classes & Dances are very popular because they’re good exercise, fun and a great way to meet other people that “love2dance”. Since purchasing the Barn, Dave & his wife Jimmi continually make improvements to update the Barn and rental property to make it a Northwest premier dance venue. The Barn has one of the largest hardwood dance floors in the area with 4,000 square feet, plus a seating area.
The Barn also has it’s own large parking lot. The classes and dances are non smoking and non alcohol.

No. We do our best to make our classes balanced between men and women or as we refer to students “leads and follows”
This is how we organize our levels. 1 = Beginner 2 = Beyond Beg. 3 = Intermediate/Advanced
You can take either a or b first. It doesn’t matter. But you do want to take both. The material is different but still at the same level.
