The Country Western Two-Step, often called the “Texas Two-Step” or simply the “Two-Step,” is a Country Western dance that travels counterclockwise around the dance floor and is usually danced to country music. As with other dances, there are different versions of two-step. Even the same dance may go by different names depending on the area of the U.S. It is a very popular and useful style of dance. The music is usually 4/4 time but can be done to 2/4 time in some cases. (Wikipedia) We teach the smooth version using a “Quick, Quick, Slow, Slow” rhythm in our Country Two Step dance lessons
Originally called the Texas Shuffle Step (or Foxtrot step), at some point this became better known as Texas Two-Step, which is now the most common dance with that name. This style of Country Two-Step had been taught in country two step dance lessons as early as 1983. (Wikipedia)
