Savoy-style Lindy Hop (also known as the Grandaddy of Swing) brings back the lively, entertaining, and energetic Swing of the ‘30s and ‘40s. It mixes 6-count with 8-count moves and tandem Charleston steps.
History
In the late 1920’s, George “Shorty” Snowden, a famous dancer from Harlem, showcased his rapid, break-away solo steps at the Savoy Ballroom and the crowd went wild. When he was asked what his dance was called, he replied, the “Lindy Hop” afer the famous Charles Lindbergh’s “hop” across the Atlantic in 1927.
