Starting in 1986 Dave Serfling began his career as a Dance Instructor and quickly expanded to include Professional DJ, MC, Event Planner, Reception Coordinator, and Entertainer services. Dave is the founder and owner of the Rockin’ Horse Dance Barn, LLC, which was established in 1998. Dave teaches many of the dance classes at the Rockin’ Horse and plays the music at our Friday night dances and Events as well as some of our Event Rentals. He quite often travels to teach and DJ at Weddings, Corporate Events, and Backyard Parties all over the Puget Sound Area.
Receptionist
It’s Friday Night…It’s the weekend…6:35 pm and the masses are arriving for the 7:00 pm pre-dance lesson. Terri has been working our front desk since 2009 greeting dancers and collecting the fees . For Terri, 15 years working here has flown by yet she still looks forward to the Friday night dances. Terri enjoys the quick conversations with “our regulars” but also likes meeting and greeting first time dancers to RH Dance. In addition,Terri also helps with class registrations, collects and posts class fees, assists with merchandise purchases, and helps prepare our facility for dances and rentals and other projects. Although Friday Night dances and Weekday Classes are a big part of Terri’s life, she totally savors her time off, and likes travelling to different parts of the United States.
Manager
Jimmi found the Barn and dancing in 2005. She was hooked and took every group class and private lesson she could. Jimmi finds the Friday Night Dances are a lot of fun for her because Dave plays a variety of music and she gets to use all the dance styles she learned. When she is not dancing jimmi is outdoors enjoying her yard and garden, hiking and activities with family and friends.
Dance Instructor
Sequoia’s love of movement began at a very young age. She danced as a child and then around the age of 13 she found yoga. She received her teaching certification at 18 and has been teaching ever since. Years later Sequoia found partner dancing and has been hooked ever since. Sequoia trains in smooth, rhythm, country western, and west coast swing. She is a 2x world champion in the UCWDC circuit, and a regular finalist in the advanced division of west coast swing. Sequoia also loves to study the biomechanics of movement and dance which she uses to inform her teaching. When she is not dancing or learning Sequoia loves to garden, cook, and hike with her pup.

Kelsey Celeste started dancing at age 13 in the styles of jazz, tap, and more. She began social dancing over 2 decades ago and has been an instructor for more than a decade. She was the coach of a line dance team for nearly 5 years and is the owner of Jovial Motion, which provides private, corporate, and special dance events. Kelsey typically teaches line dancing, patterned partner, and country swing, but loves getting on the dance floor to just about any style! Other than dancing, she finds joy working in her yard where she has created a certified wildlife habitat, and also loves karaoke and doing home renovations. Kelsey Celeste is active on all socials (@jovialmotion).

Joe found his passion for dance in 2016 as he cautiously watched others from the sidelines. After a few years of private lessons, group classes, and dancing experiences through various instructors his cautious self had been replaced with someone better equipped and eager for more! Shortly after meeting his soon to be wife, Holly, on the dance floor, he began attending Friday Night Dances at the Rockin’ Horse Dance Barn. Now, Joe and Holly, operate Stuck Junction Station, Dave & Jimmi’s other Venue and Dance Hall, in Sumner, WA. By the way, it’s a great venue to rent for your special events! Their hope is to help others find comfort and joy with their dance skills and overall with their dance journey. When Joe isn’t dancing you can find him cooking up a storm for his catering company, putting on baseball instructional camps and clinics, or, most commonly, chasing around their 6 kids to whatever their busy lives have going on.
